02 MAINTENANCE PROCEDUREA-Methods for repairing scratches:Using the aforementioned cleaning procedure, the wood floor will usually maintain its nice look and sheen. In case of accidental scratches, if the scratches are not deep the affected part is sanded to remove the scratched coat. Then another coat is applied after putting necessary tapes to confirm the newly coated area. In case the scratch is deep down to the wood, it has to be sanded down to bare wood and then the same number of coats of the original area has to be applied like the first application to have the same protection and look. Important:-It is very likely that the fresh or newly coated area will have a different color and sheen which will last for a period of time till it has the same look like the rest of the floor. If the resident does not accept the idea, then the whole floor has to be sanded to bare wood and recoated. Either repairs or sanding both have to be done by a professional team. B-Methods for repairing minor damages, water spillage or flooding. In case of minor water spillage happens from upper side of wood it has to be removed immediately and floor is left to dry in a climate controlled, well ventilated media with no extra heat or direct air draft for at least 2 weeks and remains under observation to check for any warping or cupping that might happen. In case that affected area has to be sanded to bare wood and recoated. In case of water flooding, the water has to be removed immediately and floor is kept under observation. If warping or cupping happens then the same procedure is followed. If the wood starts getting lose from the subfloor or starts popping out, then the affected area of the wood floor has to be removed and the subfloor is left to dry and then reinstalled and coated once more. |
